Back of the Throat
Loch really is a fun word to say if you can pronounce it. It’s subtle. It always pains me a tiny little bit inside when I hear it said like “lock”, but you can’t blame people for that really. I guess it’s part of the accent. The only thing worse than “lock” is when a non-Scot really emphasises the -ch sound at the end for some kind of phlegmy comic effect.
I’d compare it to Johann Sebastian Bach, if I were trying to get across the correct pronounciation… which is near impossible in text…
I’m going to stop now before I further the stereotype that the Scottish are stern and grumpy. Flowers! Kittens! Muffins!
To talk about the strip, properly, it might be a bit odd that Elwood’s new to Scottish bodies of water, but as I pet I suppose he’s not really had the oppurtunity to travel far beyond his suburban neighbourhood. I’m having fun putting Elwood into this new environment, I hope you like what happens!

You should hear people try pronouncing the LL that is in a lot of welsh names, e.g. Llanelli is supposed to be CH-lane-CH-li but non-welsh pronounce is laneli ( is harder to type than to say lol .
