Yuppiedom

Yuppiedom is a word! And a fun one to say at that.

Can anyone explain the difference between pimento and pimiento? Whenever I find alternate spellings like this I can’t rest until I find out the origins, and correct usage - to get it wrong would be like spelling colour without a U, for me. Color? Flavor? Honor? Armor? What’s wrong with U? I like U! (Do you like me?)

EDIT: All this ponderation on correct spellings and I almost missed my use of further instead of farther in the strip! Imagine the horror!

    haha imagine the horror!

    Pimento’s also a place name…:

and thus far this is all i’ve come up with:
“Last summer, the Southern Foodways Alliance announced its Pimento Cheese Invitational, sponsored by the Southeast Dairy Association. (A notation in the book says the Spanish “pimiento” has been Americanized to “pimento,” but I prefer the traditional spelling.) The entries were published in a booklet given to participants at the annual Southern Foodways Symposium at the University of Mississippi in October, a whopping 312 pages of memories and recipes.”

    So it’s an Americanisation… hmmm
