Yeup, Elwood’s never above giving a good lampooning.
If you search for barb-tailed “fire moth” you get no results. I’m always feel a small amount of accomplishment when this sort of thing happens. You get some results without the quotes, but none where fire and moth go together. UPDATE…
I had to make a last-minute change to panel 3 when I discovered that vampire moths actually did exist. I wish they didn’t - I really wanted to put it in the strip! The juxtaposition of vampire and moth seemed almost oxymoronic to me. Like “the world’s deadliest pillow”.
