Shopping

There you go, two more strips. I did a parody of a certain supermarket chain in this strip, as a background joke. Now it seems it’s snuck back into the strip, so I guess it’s becoming canon… If that’s the right word, it’s the closest I can conjure in my sleep deprived state. Part of the Elwood universe, not just a one-shot-joke. The logo is very similar to the real deal, and the name is only one letter different, but I feel confident that I’m safe in using it, seeing as how that particular supermarket is now under the name of another. Maybe in a few years everyone will have forgotten that particular chain, and I can take all the praise for coming up with a good name and corporate identity… (I should really be ashamed of that, studying graphic design and all… Well I’ve given you my reasons for not making up something totally new for this strip! I did design nice original packaging in the second panel atleast, just look at them boxes!)

I’ll add at this point that avoiding company names whilst keeping text structured is hard.

I enjoy writing about my work too much… Watching too many DVD commentaries methinks. I hope someone out there finds it interesting atleast.

EDIT: It seems the logo I am… how do you say… ripping off, was only used in the UK. If you do a search, it brings up a logo we used to have here before the chain was bought over, so it seems it’s still used (or in a newer form) in America. So I have even more chance of escaping without accusation of plagiarism. On the flip side, I’m losing any humour gained from parody.
